As you consider scheduling a permanent makeup procedure, it's important to understand that all such procedures involve tattooing. To ensure the best possible outcome, taking time to prepare beforehand is key. Proper skin preparation is crucial, but it's not just about the surface; what you consume and how you treat your body also play a role in achieving optimal results. Depending on the specific procedure you are planning, there are various factors to consider. Please refer to our prepare/aftercare information for helpful tips and guidelines. We want you to feel confident and informed every step of the way.

  1. Skin Preparation:

    • Skin must be healthy, hydrated and moisturized on the day of the appointment

    • Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 2 weeks prior to the procedure

    • Skin cannot be severely tanned or burnt on the day of the appointment

    • If skin is overly dry, cracked, peeling, red/irritated, burnt or has scabs, the appointment may be cancelled

  2. Pain Preparation:

    • Topical anesthetic will be applied before and during the procedure

    • Clients may be more sensitive 5 days before, during, and 5 days after menstrual cycle

    • Do not take blood thinners such as Ibuprofen and Aspirin 24 hours before, Tylenol can be taken 30 minutes before without any contraindications

  3. Additional Precautions:

    • Skin should not be dry, chapped or irritated on the day of the appointment

    • Swelling may occur for 1-2 days after the procedure

    • Inform the technician if using Retin-A or any other medications

    • Do not exercise on the day of the procedure

    • Do not tan or come with a sunburned face

    • Avoid consuming caffeinated products 24 hours before the procedure

    • Avoid consuming alcohol 5 days before and 3 days after the procedure

    • Avoid taking Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen 72 hours before the procedure

    • Avoid chemical peels, Botox, and Laser Treatment 2 months before the appointment

  3. Avoid using oil-based products: In the 24 hours leading up to your appointment, avoid using oil-based products such as makeup removers, moisturizers, or facial oils. These products can break down the adhesive used to apply the lash extensions.

  4. Shower and wash your hair before the appointment: If you need to wash your hair, it is recommended to do so before your appointment. This will help to prevent any excess moisture or humidity from interfering with the adhesive.

  5. Avoid wearing contact lenses: If you wear contact lenses, it is recommended to wear glasses to your appointment. This will help to prevent any irritation or discomfort that may occur if the adhesive gets in your eyes.

  6. Discuss any allergies or sensitivities with your lash technician: If you have any allergies or sensitivities, it is important to discuss them with your lash technician before the appointment. This will help them to select the appropriate products and techniques that are safe for you.

  1. Dress comfortably for your appointment that way you can enjoy your facial at its fullest. 

  2. It is recommended that you do not wear makeup to your appointment. If you do, it will be cleansed since it is part of the facial treatment.

  3. Avoid any strong at-home chemical peels, exfoliating treatments,retinol or any other intense treatments that causes fast skin cell rejuvenating and skin irritation 3-4 weeks prior to your appointment. 

  4. Avoid tanning 3-5 days prior to your appointment. It is important to not work on sensitive and sun burnt skin since it can be damaging.

  5. Be prepared to discuss your skin history, the medications, and medical conditions that you currently have or had in the past. 

  6. If you have a big event just around the corner, it is recommended that you schedule your facial 6 weeks in advance that way you don't risk heading to the event with your skin possibly purging or reacting.

lips

  1. LIP/SKIN PREPARATION: To perform cosmetic tattoo procedures on the lips, the skin of your lips must be hydrated and moisturized on the day of your appointment. We ask all clients to begin a daily lip regimen 5 days before the scheduled appointment to prepare the lips. If you tend to be sensitive, taking Arnica on the day of your appointment is recommended to help with any potential swelling.

  2. REGIMEN: Vitamin A&D should be applied throughout the day. After showering when lips are soft and supple, gently scrub your lips, especially the middle, and apply a layer of vitamin A&D. You can make a homemade scrub by mixing brown sugar, honey, and olive oil in the same proportions. If the skin is overly dry, cracked, peeling, blistered, burnt, or has scabs on the day of the appointment, PURE BEAUTY STUDIO reserves the right to cancel the appointment. Procedures cannot be performed if the skin is not properly prepared.

  3. PAIN PREPARATION: Although the sensation of micro-pigmentation is minimal, all clients respond to pain differently. To alleviate possible discomfort, a strong topical anesthetic will be applied before and during the procedure. Please note that you may be more sensitive 5 days before, during, and 5 days after your menstrual cycle. Do not take any blood thinners such as Ibuprofen and Aspirin 24 hours before the appointment. Tylenol can be taken 30 minutes before the treatment without any contraindications.

  4. COLD SORES: For clients with ANY history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes, please contact your physician and request a prescription for Zovirax or Valtrex. Take it the day before, on the day of, and the day after the appointment. If you experience frequent outbreaks, please note that Lip Blush can only be done after 4 weeks from the most recent outbreak. All other questions or concerns should be discussed with a healthcare physician.

  5. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • The skin should not be dry, chapped, or irritated on the day of the appointment.

  • Swelling may occur, so please avoid having anything important scheduled for the next 1-2 days after the visit (depending on the person).

  • If you use or have used Retin-A or any other medications, please advise the technician.

  • Do not exercise on the day of the procedure.

  • Do not tan or come with a sunburned face.

  • Do not consume caffeinated products 24 hours before the procedure.

  • Do not consume alcohol 5 days before and 3 days after the procedure.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, or Ibuprofen 72 hours before the procedure.

Only water should be consumed for the first 30 minutes. Please refer to the aftercare instructions to see what to avoid. Also, avoid wearing any lip makeup since it will be removed prior to your appointment. To prepare for your teeth whitening appointment, it is recommended to brush your teeth with a toothbrush without toothpaste and rinse thoroughly with water.
